This project involves refurbishment the old Malabar Junction toilet block, located on the corner of Anzac Parade and Franklin St. The new design included family friendly and accessible facilities with surrounding landscaping, improved bus stop and improved access to the building including new paths and surrounding shrubbery.
While the exterior walls were maintained, a new architectural roof and a new the internal fit out were completed including new female, male, ambulant, and accessible toilets. The new roof was raised and replaced to improve ventilation and natural light.
Significant traffic control and temporary traffic calming devices were implemented throughout the course of the construction for the safety of the community and workers as the location of the amenities also serve as bus stop for State Transit Authority.
Throughout the course of the works, noise, erosion, and dust controls were also implemented to mitigate any adverse impacts on the surrounding community and commercial precincts.
